BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The California City Council is set to hold a public hearing regarding the CoreCivic immigrant detention center on Tuesday amid public opposition against the facility.
CoreCivic, a private prison company, submitted a Site Plan Review application to operate an immigrant detention center at the existing California City Correctional Facility, according to city officials.
The Cal City staff is reviewing the application to evaluate if it complies with the zoning, land use and design standards, the meeting agenda said.
