Now in its 77th year, the Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational had never seen a 3-mile run faster than Flagstaff's Yohanes Van Meerten on Saturday night.

Running the course in 14:10.1, Van Meerten broke the record of 14:23 set in 2014 after finishing his third mile in 4:44. The junior wasn't the only Eagle in the top 10 of the Boys Division I and DII 3-mile Team Sweepstakes race, as senior Alex Bland placed sixth with a 15:02.5 at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California.
