Garfield High School students and staff members were relocated to a different campus Monday morning due to law enforcement activity near the campus in East Los Angeles.

In a statement, a LAUSD spokesperson said the relocation to Griffith STEAM Magnet Middle School was due to "safety reasons" and "extensive law enforcement activity" near the campus. The spokesperson said the law enforcement operation was not related to immigration enforcement.

The law enforcement operation involved a Yolo County Sheriff's Department investigation, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The Northern California agency was serving a search warrant at a home near Garfield High School.
