Is taping your mouth shut really the secret to better sleep?

Mouth taping is the latest sleep hack to go viral on social media. Some claim the practice leads to deeper sleep, less snoring and more energy in the morning.

But there’s no real science to show it works.

To get some answers, News4 turned to Dr. Jennifer Gourdin, a primary care sports medicine physician at Kaiser Permanente.

“There's currently no research to suggest that mouth taping improves sleep quality. There's also currently no FDA-approved mouth tapes. And more research is needed to determine if it's safe and effective to use mouth tape,” she said. “We just need more information. We need more studies.”
