A beloved restaurant chain closed all of its locations in recent weeks.
These closures were reportedly due to the strain on the business brought about by protests related to the Israel-Palestine conflict .
The Telegraph reports how Shouk — a plant-based kosher street-food chain in Washington, D.C., that’s been around for almost a decade — shut down its last remaining locations this month due, in part, to protests and boycotts — and even vandalism — from anti-Israel activists.
According to Forward , Shouk was included on D.C. for Palestine’s “ Apartheid? I Don’t Buy It ” boycott list in March under the category “restaurants that culturally appropriate or sell Israeli settlement products.”
