A rural community group has successfully taken over a former South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture (SLLC) hall. ‌

Thancard Trust has been granted a Community Asset Transfer (CAT) of Thankerton Hall following council approval at a meeting of South Lanarkshire Council’s Housing and Technical Resources Committee on October 8. ‌

The trust has had temporary lease of the hall since October last year and submitted a request to purchase the facility; now approved, the organisation will pay £9000 for the sale. ‌

The Thancard Trust has been in operation since 2022 and they currently have a concessionary lease of Thankerton Hall and use it for the purposes of operating a Scout troop with hires to local community groups for their own activities. ‌
