The Los Angeles Rams added a valuable piece to their secondary on Monday by trading for Tennessee Titans cornerback Roger McCreary.

The veteran cornerback will go from one of the worst teams in the league in Tennessee to a Super Bowl contender in Los Angeles. For a Rams team trying to win the NFC, any quality secondary help is always welcome.

For the Titans, it's an opportunity to trade a player who may not stick around after the 2025 season and get draft capital in return. All in all, it's not a bad deal for both sides.

Let's break down this Titans and Rams trade and see who came out on top, even if by just a hair.

Rams receive: CB Roger McCreary, a late sixth-round pick in 2026 NFL Draft

Titans receive: an early fifth-round pick in 2026 NFL Draft

The Rams needed reinforcements in the cornerback room, and McCreary can fit in at nickel for the team right away. It's a savvy trade for a Los Angeles team with clear Super Bowl aspirations, and McCreary can audition with the Rams for a potential second contract in Los Angeles before he hits free agency in the spring. McCreary is a scrappy young cornerback who adds plus value to the Rams secondary; he was one of the better cornerbacks available via trade. The draft compensation is minimal compared to what the Rams can get back in return from McCreary.

Titans grade

The Titans had a solid player in McCreary on an expiring deal and chose to get something in return, an upgrade on a sixth-rounder in next year's draft all the way up to high in the fifth round. That's not a bad outcome for a player like McCreary, useful on the field but not likely to stick around past this season. Tennessee is in full selling mode in the midst of a lost season, and trading away players like McCreary for good returns is good business at this stage.
