Dilliott, 38, who practices the ability to “transcend” as a way to fall into a deep sleep, has incorporated it into the story told in his novel where the main character, Nathan Stone, and others “transcend and go into the spirit realm where there is a whole other world.”

Those experienced in transcending can hold on to facts in that other realm and bring them back to this world.

“That’s where the fantasy, the adventure gets going,” Dilliott said.
