EUGENE, Ore. - The Egan Warming Center in Lane County is undergoing significant changes this winter. A new team is set to lead the operations, bringing fresh ideas and perspectives to aid those in need.

Bill Barnard, director of operations at St. Vincent de Paul, emphasized the urgency of the situation.

"This is life and death for a lot of people," Barnard said. "When we get into those temperature ranges and someone doesn't have a place to go or a place to feel safe, any number of things can happen. People have absolutely passed away in these temperatures before. There's usually nowhere else to go."

The Springfield warming center, which used to be located at the Memorial Building, is now searching for a new location.
