EXETER – A South Huron man faces charges after police investigated an alleged assault in Victoria Park on Exeter’s Huron Street West.

Police responded to a report of an assault on Friday, Oct. 10, where they learned that a suspect had allegedly brandished a knife and committed assaults on two individuals.

After being located, police said the suspect resisted arrest and fled on food. Officers later found the suspect and administered pepper spray before arresting him after he resisted arrest a second time.

The 55-year-old man was charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of assault and two counts of resisting a peace officer.

He was held for a bail hearing and released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for Goderich on Monday, Nov. 3.
