Sevens rugby is back!

After a long absence, the popular truncated version of the sport has made its long-awaited return following the launch of the Tamworth Summer SVNS at Tamworth Rugby Park.

Week one of the event gave rugby lovers an off-season fix, with junior and senior competitions staged on Wednesday and Friday respectively.

Tamworth Summer SVNS coordinator Lachlan Barry said more than 100 players had registered. Accordingly, he is "really excited" over how the competitions are shaping.

Coaches and mentors would be available on game days to help rugby novices, he said.
