MONONA, Wis. -- Monona police were searching for a man Monday who they said led officers on a chase in a vehicle before jumping out and running away.

A Monona police officer tired begin a traffic stop at around 3:35 a.m. after reportedly seeing a vehicle traveling 72 mph in a 45 mph zone. The vehicle reportedly took a long time to stop, but the driver eventually pulled over in a parking lot in the 6500 block of Monona Dr.

According to police, the officer noticed a significant amount of movement in the vehicle and waited for backup before approaching. While waiting, the officer learned that the vehicle was linked to a suspect who had ran from McFarland police and was still at large.
