A Delta Air Lines plane had its emergency slide accidentally deployed before takeoff over the weekend

A spokesperson for the airline told PEOPLE that crew "inadvertently deployed an emergency slide at the arrival gate" in Pittsburgh before a flight to Salt Lake City

“We apologize to our customers for the delay in their travel plans,” the airline added, with data from Flightradar24 showing that the flight landed in Utah over three hours late

Delta Air Lines passengers experienced inflating delays over the weekend after a flight attendant accidentally deployed the emergency slide before takeoff.

The mishap occurred on Delta flight 3248 from Pittsburgh, Penn. to Salt Lake City, Utah, on Saturday, Oct. 25, a Delta spokesperson told PEOPLE.
