Aleksandar Vukic has been rewarded for battling through qualifying at the Paris Masters with a second-round place after beating French wildcard Terence Atmane 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.

But there was disappointment for Alexei Popyrin who followed his fellow Sydneysider onto Court 1 at La Defence Arena but lost to 13th seed Alexander Bublik 6-4, 6-3.

There was an odd ending to the match as Popyrin hit the final return out of court, and Bublik celebrated at the net, before walking off and shaking hands with the chair umpire without acknowledging the Australian.

Some of the crowd booed the lack of a handshake, as Bublik then walked back on court and raised his arms in the air to celebrate.
