NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WFSB) - A suspect in the murder of an 11-year-old girl has been hit with more charges.

30-year-old Jonatan Nanita was arrested on Oct. 13 for murder and tampering with evidence. He is accused of murdering his girlfriend’s 11-year-old daughter in the fall of 2024 and disposing of her remains in a container behind an abandoned building in New Britain.

The investigation began on Oct. 8 when an anonymous tip led police a plastic tote at 80 Clark Street with 11-year-old Jacqueline Torres’s remains inside in an advanced state of decomposition.

Nanita was hit with two additional charges from New Britain Police on Sept. 22. He was charged again with tampering with physical evidence and disposal of a dead body.
