BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Voters in November will pick a new Saratoga County sheriff. Two candidates are trying to replace Sheriff Michael Zurlo, who is not running for re-election.

One of them is Saratoga County Undersheriff Jeff Brown. He's been with the department for almost 30 years. Brown calls the county safe. But he admits there are quality-of -life crimes.

"Whether it be teenagers out damaging property or going through vehicles," said Brown. He adds, " I'd tend to have proactive patrols so we can combat those issues and look for hotspots in our community and use some smart policing so we're using our patrols the best way possible."
