LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The search is on for a pair of tortoises that were stolen from the Indianapolis Zoo earlier this month.

It happened sometime between 10 a.m. Oct. 10 and 10 a.m. Oct. 12, according to a news release from Indiana State Police. Now, the Capitol Police Section of the ISP is asking for the public’s help to find them.

According to release, both species — an Egyptian tortoise and a Northern Spider tortoise — are currently listed as critically endangered.

Both tortoises are microchipped, and investigators said the Egyptian tortoise has "a prominent scar" on its underside.

Anyone with any information is asked to call either the Capitol Police at 317-234-2131 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-TIPS (8477).
