Wadsworth is experiencing a power outage that could keep the city's customers in the dark until early Oct. 28, according to its police and fire officials.
A FirstEnergy transmission line pole near the Star Substation, caught fire on Oct. 27, causing the major power outage. The fire was not caused by the City of Wadsworth’s electric system.
The police department's non-emergency phone lines are down, but the 911 line is working. The department is asking residents to only call 911 if experiencing a life-threatening emergency.
Police advise drivers to treat intersections as a four-way stop.
City officials said on social media just before 5 p.m. Oct. 27 the outage could continue another eight hours or even longer.
