Hall of Fame tight end and former Kent State University standout Antonio Gates has denied any involvement in mafia-led rigged poker games.
"Antonio Gates has not been involved nor has he been accused of any wrong doing , (sic) assertions to the contrary are false and without merit,” Gates’ business manager Denise White said in a statement on his behalf. “There will be no further comments on this matter."
White’s statement comes after Pablo Torre reported that Gates "hosted and played in" a rigged poker game organized by Curtis Meeks in Miami. Meeks is among the people indicted in a gambling scandal that rocked the NBA last week .
Torre’s report came on the heels of a story by the New York Post that said an alleged victim claimed that Meeks and his accomplices used "an ex-NFL player
