A union representing nearly 57,000 nurses across Ontario is adding its voice to calls for the Co-Operative Care Centre to stay open.
The Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) is calling on the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville to rethink its decision to redirect the funding now going to the warming centre for people struggling with homelessness.

“I hope that we will see a reversal of the decision. It is a poor decision and it’s a damaging decision for many people,” Dr. Doris Grinspun, the union’s chief executive officer, said in a phone interview Monday.
The Co-Operative Care Centre, located on the grounds of the Brockville Mental Health Centre, faces the loss of its funding on Dec. 31.
