FORT WORTH, Texas — Staffing shortages are the official reason behind a ground delay in place at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport Monday, according to the FAA.

The FAA announced a ground delay in place from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday at DFW Airport, citing staffing shortages.

"As Secretary Duffy has said, there have been increased staffing shortages across the system," the FAA said in a statement to WFAA. "When that happens, the FAA slows traffic into some airports to ensure safe operations."

Per the FAA, passengers can anticipate an average delay of 18 minutes. According to FlightAware data, there have been 413 delays and two cancellations at DFW as of 5:45 p.m.
