Week 8 of the NFL season closes with what sure looked like a marquee matchup when it was set months ago but is now supposed to be one of the biggest routs of the week: the Washington Commanders at the Kansas City Chiefs .

The Chiefs' early season struggles seem to be behind them, as they have won four of their last five after an 0-2 start. Washington, meanwhile, scuffing along at 3-4, went into last week's game against Dallas with a mountain if injuries and that got worse when they lost star quarterback Jayden Daniels, at least for this week.

All that adds up to Kansas City coming in as a 12 1/2-point favorite against a team that played in the NFC Championship game a year ago.
