A teenager died after being found at the scene of a single-car crash in Pittsfield with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The teenager’s identity will not be released, according to the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office, which is investigating the incident that happened on Sunday.

At about 6:15 p.m., Pittsfield police responded near 17 Parker Street due to a report of a single-car crash.

An arriving officer found a white Honda HR-V across Franco Terrace near the intersection of Parker Street, where both steering wheel and side curtain airbags were deployed, officials said.

Debris was scattered around the car, and initial observations suggest the car traveled down Franco Terrace toward the intersection of Franco Terrace and Parker Street, where it ultimately collided with a tree, official
