The father of a teen driver accused in a 2023 crash that killed three children and their grandmother is now headed to trial.

Richard Ferguson, 68, appeared in court Monday and told the judge how he wants to proceed.

“I would like to do jury selection,” Ferguson said in court.

The crash, which occurred more than two years ago, claimed the lives of three young siblings and their grandmother. Ferguson faces four counts of vehicular manslaughter, accused of allowing his 15-year-old son to drive the family car that night.

The teen involved has already been sentenced to juvenile confinement. Investigators say Ferguson moved another vehicle out of the way so his son could take the car, placing additional responsibility on him.
