With demand rising and donations falling, Melissa Chiasson says her southern Alberta town’s food bank is in danger of closing in a couple of years.

Food Banks Canada’s Hunger Count 2025 report , released Monday, found that Canadian food banks are more in demand than ever, with visits totalling 2.17 million in March — up 5.2 per cent from the same time last year and 99 per cent since 2019.
