PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- The city of Peoria is inviting residents to join them while they open up a 128-year-old time capsule on Sunday.
The time capsule, sealed in the cornerstone of City Hall, will be opened at the Gateway Building at 2 p.m., Nov. 2, according to a post on Peoria City website.
The capsule dates back to the building's construction and was recently removed while the building's facade was being repaired.
It is believed to contain a variety of items from the community, including a copy of the city code, local newspapers, photos and other historical treasures.
