FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — Community members are remembering the life of one man who helped shape one of the state's most iconic brands with a bridge dedication in his honor.

For decades, David C. Bigelow helped to shape the Bigelow Tea company, now headquartered in Fairfield. After his death in 2023, state Sen. Tony Hwang said he wanted to find a way to memorialize his ability to build strong community connections.

"Maybe in this day and age to kind of have a message, that we are much better when we're connected— that we are not as divided as we seem to be," Hwang said.

Just adjacent to the company's headquarters now resides the David Campbell Bigelow Memorial Bridge along Brewster Street.
