A joint law enforcement operation led by the Akron Police Department last weekend resulted in an unspecified number of arrests in a crackdown on street takeovers, Mayor Shammas Malik's office said in an Oct. 27 Facebook post.
Authorities, responding to complaints about reckless and unlawful operation of dirt bikes, four wheelers, and motorcycles on city streets, focused on a large gathering that included stunt riders in the Derby Downs area of the city's Ellet neighborhood, the post said.
The Summit County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol and Springfield police participated in the operation, which Akron police said safely addressed the event.
