A man has suffered serious burns in a house fire in Muswellbrook and was airlifted to a specialist burns unit in Sydney.

Around 7:00pm on Monday, (October 27), a Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance to Muswellbrook in the Upper Hunter.

A male in his 30s who had sustained burns as a result of a fire at a residence was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and transported by road Ambulance to the Muswellbrook Hospital Helipad to meet the helicopter's critical care medical team.
