Rochester, N.Y. (WROC) — Mitch Gruber and the rest of the team at Foodlink, our region’s food bank, are ready day in and day out to respond to an individual’s emergency.
In a few days, though, they might be asked to respond to a community emergency.
Should the federal shutdown remain in place as is, SNAP benefits – the money many people who fall under a certain income threshold use to buy groceries – will disappear on Nov. 1.
That will likely send thousands in our area rushing to their local food pantry for food.
Foodlink helps to stock those pantries.
Monday, Adam Chodak interviewed Gruber, Foodlink’s Chief Impact Officer, to talk about how they’re preparing to meet a giant increase in demand and how people can help.
