SCOTT CITY, Mo. (KFVS) - Halloween is this Friday, and you’ll want to make sure your trick-or-treaters stay safe.

While this holiday is a favorite for many kids, it’s also an extra worry for parents.

So, officers are encouraging parents to make sure their children are easily detectable.

We spoke with Scott City Police Chief Chris Griggs, who wants to remind parents of these safety tips.

“Try to be in well-lit areas. Reflective clothing is best if we can do that. Maybe some flashlights or some sort of items that they can carry on or with them so they can be detected easily by persons or vehicles.”

Chief Griggs also says there will be extra patrols in neighborhoods and officers on foot as well.
