SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) -- Voters who live in unincorporated Shelby County near Chelsea will head to the polls Tuesday.
They are voting on whether to add zoning regulations. The area does not have any.
“Vote No” signs are up and down Chelsea Road in unincorporated Shelby County. Jackie Hale, the owner of the Canine Country Club, put most of them up.
“The people that live out here outside of the city of Chelsea, and the area that is under scrutiny with this vote, we're six, seven, eight miles away from that," Hale said. "We don't want to give up our unzoned property."
Josh Osborne, the manager of planning and community development for Shelby County, said the proposed zoning take businesses like the Canine Country Club into account.
