CLINTON, Maine — Fenway Park holds a special place in the hearts of many who have made the trek to Boston for a Red Sox game.
Here in Maine, there are several tributes to the iconic stadium. There’s the “Maine Monster” at Hadlock Field, built after the Sea Dogs became affiliated with the Red Sox. Plus in Oakland you can visit “Maine’s Fenway,” a scale replica of the original park.
Now, there’s a new Fenway in the Pine Tree State. It’s called “Wiffle Fenway,” and it was built this summer by volunteers in collaboration with T-Mobile.
“There's people that come from afar that stop in they've seen it on Facebook want to check it out,” Parks and Rec Director Anthony Barton said.
The park, which is located just behind Clinton Elementary School, has fielded players of all ages.
