Mid-air refueling aircraft are used to refuel fighter jets in mid-air during war

A long-pending ₹8,000-crore deal to add six mid-air refueling aircraft to the Indian Air Force (IAF) fleet has reached its final stage with Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI), a government-owned Israeli company.

According to defence sources, Russian and European firms were also in contention but failed to meet India’s technical and ‘Make in India’ requirements. IAI has agreed to include nearly 30% indigenous content under India’s offset policy.
