New Delhi: Cyclone Montha is moving steadily towards the Andhra Pradesh coast and is expected to make landfall near Kakinada between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam on Tuesday evening. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy rainfall and strong winds across Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and parts of Tamil Nadu between October 28 and 30.

Andhra Pradesh is likely to be the “most affected,” followed by Odisha and Chhattisgarh. “Montha is expected to hit Andhra Pradesh as a severe cyclonic storm with maximum wind speeds of 90–100 kmph,” said Dr M Mohapatra, Director General of the IMD as quoted by NDTV.
