JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — According to Feeding America, 47 million people in the United States face food insecurity. With the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) unfunded as of Nov. 1 due to the ongoing government shutdown, its 42 million benefit recipients could feel an even bigger strain.

There is help available. Through donations and community effort, many organizations, businesses, and services throughout Northeast Florida are offering free food or discounts to those impacted.
