HARTLAND, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Hartland man accused of driving a school bus full of kids while under the influence last January appeared in court Monday, Oct. 27.
Walter Cunningham is facing one OWI charge and 28 counts of second degree recklessly endangering safety.
According to the criminal complaint, a student called 911 on Jan. 27, saying their bus driver was acting erratically and wouldn’t let kids off the bus. The complaint says Cunningham eventually pulled over and a parent pulled his car in front of the bus to get his kids. Prosecutors say Cunningham let the kids off the bus, drove away and was then caught by police.
In court Monday, Cunningham's attorney asked the judge to modify his bond to allow him behind the wheel again, but only in his own car with his wife.
