LUFKIN, Texas — Lufkin Police brought a woman into custody after they say she refused to pull over for a traffic stop while driving recklessly at low speeds.

According to Lufkin Police, officers responded to a call of a reckless driver around 9:15 p.m. The vehicle reportedly had its lights off and was serving, travelling at low speeds around the loop.

An officer initiated a traffic stop, but the vehicle continued traveling at speeds of around 50-55 miles per hour.

"Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office had spikes set up before the construction area on US 59," Lufkin PD spokesperson Jackie Zimmerman said. "The vehicle struck the spikes coming to a stop shortly thereafter."

A woman was placed into custody. Police are still investigating, and the woman was booked into Angelina County Jail.
