LENOIR CITY, Tenn. — State Representative Monty Fritts, of Kingston, held an education session in Lenoir City on Monday for people to learn more about the impact of invasive carp .

The meeting was all about what government leaders are doing to control and prevent the spread of the invasive fish. Americans first imported Asian Carp to control algae in ponds. Flooding and accidental releases put them into waterways where they don't belong, and have now taken over.

In Tennessee, they are mainly found in West and Middle Tennessee, but the carp are working their way east and found in Chickamauga Lake. Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, or TWRA, officers warn if the carp get established, they pose a threat to native fish.
