MADISON (WKOW) -- A Dane County jury determined a former Middleton child care provider was not guilty of the child abuse charge against her.

Kimberly Gebhard was charged with one felony count of child abuse-recklessly causing great harm with a modifier of physical abuse of a child by a child care provider.

Gebhard used to own Best Friends Day Care in Middleton. She was accused of causing a traumatic brain injury to a 4-month-old child in September of 2019.

The case took several years to get to trial. Jury selection began on Monday, October 20, 2025. Online court records show the jury got the case on Monday, October 27. Records show the jury began deliberations at 4:19 p.m. and had reached a verdict at 7:55 p.m. The jury determined Gebhard was not guilty.
