Reagan Republicans are officially extinct if even the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute in California can’t stand up for the truth about Ronald Reagan’s stance on tariffs.

Old video of the 40th president, who won his 1984 re-election in a 49-state landslide, appears in a TV ad run by the Canadian province of Ontario on U.S. televisions making a strong case against protectionist tariffs.

The Ontario ad quoted a televised message by Mr. Reagan explaining his view that “over the long run trade barriers hurt every American worker and consumer.”

President Trump responded on his personal social media account by calling the ad a “fraud,” cancelling trade talks with Canada, and raising the tariff on Canada by 10 percent.
