KENNEWICK, Wash. – The Tri-Cities Food Bank has been feeling the pressure as the deadline to continue SNAP benefits is rapidly approaching.
With those food stamps funds set to dry up this week, the food bank has reported an increase in demand since the shutdown began.
The Tri-Cities Food Bank, which serves Kennewick and has branches in Richland and Benton City, has reserves and is prepared to continue providing food to those in need.
However, they emphasize the importance of community support during this time of increased demand.
"We're also reminding everybody in the community that we need their support more than ever right now because of the demand," said executive director VJ Meadows.
