WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The government shutdown has some families wondering if students can still apply for FASFA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) . To clear up some of the confusion, 12 News spoke with school leaders.
“It’s not affecting any student currently submitting their application... Our students are receiving their aid; we are seeing where they are in the process,” said Cammie Kennedy, College Career Centers district lead for Wichita Public Schools.
But for students applying for the aid, it’s important to submit your paperwork as soon as possible as the assistance could be delayed.
“Get in there, get your FAFSA completed because it is still first-come, first-served,” Kennedy said.
