WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Over 450 meals were served to first responders on Tuesday during an appreciation lunch.

The Wichita Police & Fire Foundation, along with SERVPRO of Northeast Wichita, hosted a drive-through appreciation lunch for first responders on Tuesday morning from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The lunch was in celebration of National First Responder Appreciation Day, which is celebrated annually on Oct. 28. This is the foundation’s fourth annual appreciation day lunch. The foundation said the purpose of the event is to thank local fire, police, and EMS responders.

The drive through took place at Central Christian Church at 29th and Rock Road. First responders received a free BBQ lunch. The public could purchase a meal as well, with proceeds from the event benefitting the Wichita Police
