Mohali Mayor Amarjeet Singh Jiti Sidhu at a press conference Monday said the local MLA’s “double standards” have paralysed the city’s waste management system and urged him to act swiftly on the city’s sanitation system.
Sidhu, at the press meet alongside several councillors, claimed, “The MLA claims to have provided 13 acres of land for waste management, yet the same site is being obstructed.”
Armed men are intimidating workers at the site identified for green waste dumping, forcing the labourers to flee, he said, adding that, “This is a serious matter.”
To make sure that the city’s cleanliness operations continue without disruption, Sidhu demanded that the MLA ensure adequate security arrangements through the SSP.
