A young Sydney police officer has been charged after allegedly driving recklessly and crashing into a car deliberately during a pursuit in the city’s west.
The 27-year-old constable was behind the wheel of an unmarked police vehicle when he and other officers spotted a Mazda SUV with fraudulent registration plates on Jamison Rd, Penrith, about 7.45am on April 30.
Police attempted to stop the SUV on Thornton Dr, but the driver allegedly refused to pull over, sparking a pursuit.
During the chase, the constable allegedly drove over a median strip, onto the wrong side of the road, and deliberately rammed the Mazda at the intersection of Mulgoa and Castlereagh roads.
The impact pushed the Mazda into another car but no one was injured.
