NEARLY a century of greyhound racing in Maitland will end next June as part of a recommendation to streamline the industry in NSW.
Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) released a report on Tuesday, undertaken by Deloittes Australia, which recommended reducing the number of race tracks in the state to 15.
The optimal footprint was based on the number of race meetings held and ensuring that each region has at least one track to support the demand in that region.
Non-TAB tracks at Coonamble, Kempsey, Moree, Potts Park, Tamworth, Wauchope, and Young will close by the end of 2025.
TAB tracks Maitland, Wagga Wagga and Broken Hill will cease operation by June 30 next year.
