: After completing their initial 14-day judicial custody, five key accused in the Zubeen Garg death case have been remanded to another 14 days of judicial custody.
They were produced virtually from Baksa District Jail before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court in Guwahati.
Shyamkanu Mahanta, Siddhartha Sharma, Sandipan Garg, Nandeshwar Bora, and Paresh Baishya (Zubeen’s PSOs) — none of whom have applied for bail yet — were presented through a virtual hearing necessitated by the Chhath Puja public holiday on October 28, which prevented physical court proceedings.
The court had earlier remanded them to judicial custody on October 15, after which they were lodged in Baksa Jail. Their transfer to the facility took place under tight security following violent protests in the area.
