Mount Holly received state grant money that will help fund the construction of sidewalks on two streets.
The city received the grants from the North Carolina Department of Transportation's Toll Credit Pilot Program, City Manager Jonathan Blanton said. The city was awarded the grant to build sidewalks on Tuckaseege and Beaty roads, Blanton said.
The city received just over $1.5 million for the Tuckaseege Road project and $180,200 for the Beaty Road project.
"This Toll Credit Pilot Program will potentially save the city $1,070,600 in total project costs to design and construct these projects," Blanton said.
The Tuckaseege Road sidewalk will be .93 miles, and the Beaty Road sidewalk will be .36 miles, Blanton said.
