The Chattanooga City Council will discuss hiring an economic forecaster at its Tuesday meeting, in the hopes of better informing the budget-making process.
First proposed by Councilman Chip Henderson (District One) at last week's meeting, the proposal aims to help avoid a similar situation to this year's budget discussions. Despite initially passing the fiscal year budget in June, the council went back-and-forth on alternative proposals throughout the summer to make first responder pay raises possible.
"Myself, like many of you, were concerned last budget season I guess with the frustration dealing with, you know, we'll pass a tax increase, give pay raises and then we'll forget about it for four years," Henderson said.
